Course Description

INTRODUCTION

The intent of this GLOMACS training course is to equip inspectors & QC personnel with the required knowledge & expertise of welding processes & metallurgy, inspection, testing and certification of procedures, welders & welding operators according to API, ASME, AWS international codes & standards.

This GLOMACS training course fulfill industry's requirements on Welding Engineering & Inspection. Approximately 90% or more of pressure vessels, boilers, storage tanks & piping projects in Middle East & South East Asia and also in various parts of Asia are based on American design, fabrication & inspection approach such as API, ASME & AWS codes & standards. Hence good knowledge of welding, metallurgy, inspection is a must.

The main emphasis of this GLOMACS training course is to improve and ensure safety through the use of owner / user or third-party inspectors specialized in Oil and Gas requirements in a manner that protects employees, the public, and the environment.

Objectives

People with sound knowledge base are assets to everyone. This GLOMACS training course trains and educates personnel with sound knowledge of welding, metallurgy, inspection, which could very well utilize in, oil & gas, petrochemical, power, nuclear and other industries. Parallel contents have been extracted from other courses, e.g., CSWIP and AWS-CWI to make the contents very strong and sound, benefiting the participants and making this training course truly meaningful.

Course participants aspiring to be certified by American Petroleum Institute will undergo this rigorous program to get them well versed with the various code books and standards, including API Standards 577, ASME Sec IX and other applicable standards.

In summary, this GLOMACS training course empowers participants with the knowledge in:

  • Welding techniques, welding positions, welding consumables, weld preparation
  • Basics of welding metallurgy
  • Various welding inspection, NDE methods, relative merits, demerits
  • Various welding codes, specifications and standards
  • Evaluation of welding procedure specifications and welder’s performance qualifications acc. to ASME IX
  • Evaluate the preparation of test pieces for destructive tests and verify their compliance with applicable specifications
  • Various parent materials and welding consumable (acc. to ASME codes)
  • Reviewing NDT reports on welding work; ensuring that NDT personnel are properly qualified, and that certification is relevant and valid for the testing performed drawings and specifications, having understanding of weld symbols
  • Each of the above contents are backed up with daily Mock-Up examinations and evaluations
