INTRODUCTION
Increasingly, the configuration, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of several critical process components have been possible by communication networks such as the Foundation Fieldbus (FF). These important process components include process controllers, process safeguarding, valve positioners, intrinsic safety, and transmitters. Thus to operate a process in a manner that is proper, efficient, and safe, the use of networks such as Foundation Fieldbus is paramount. This course has been designed to provide the fundamentals of Foundation Fieldbus and its proper use in process control applications.
This GLOMACS training course will highlight:
- Data communication and Foundation Fieldbus fundamentals
- Use of Foundation Fieldbus in Process Control applications
- Wiring, configuration, installation, and Commissioning
- Function blocks and Foundation Fieldbus operation
- Foundation Fieldbus Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Objectives
At the end of this training course, you will learn to:
- Understand the fundamentals of data communications
- Learn the technological principles of Foundation Fieldbus
- Apply Foundation Fieldbus principles to process control
- Develop process controller configurations using FF Function Blocks
- Understand various techniques for the configuration, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of FF devices
Training Methodology
This course has been designed for both novice and experienced engineers, operators, and technicians. The training methodology is a combination of Instructor presentations and case studies. This is followed by a series of videos involving the main course topics. This is complemented by Instructor led workshops with active delegate participation. Throughout the training course, delegates will learn through active participation using review exercises and questionnaires of each major topic.
Organisational Impact
When delegates return to their place of work, organizations will benefit from the following:
- Participants reviewed the most important concepts of data communications and Foundation Fieldbus (FF)
- Participants introduced to the application of FF to process control
- Participants learned how to configure process controllers using FF Function Blocks
- Participants learned the basic operation of FF devices and networks
- Participants learned techniques for wiring, configuration, installation, and commissioning of FF devices and networks
- Participants learned Troubleshooting and Maintenance techniques of FF devices and networks
Personal Impact
When delegates return to their place of work, they will benefit from the following:
- Participate in specialized training in data communications and Foundation Fieldbus
- Get in depth knowledge of Foundation Fieldbus devices and networks
- Become familiar with the application of FF to process control
- Enhance their knowledge of Foundation Fieldbus operation, installation, and commissioning
- Participate in drills and workshops
