Project Excellence (PE) Assessor

Introduction

Project Management is an emerging profession operating in an increasing range of industries. As projects become more complex, and as more organizations move to management by projects, there is an increasing demand for consistent, and effective management of projects. How do you determine whether or not your project performance is effective? How do you recognize that the project manager is performing in a competent manner and has the capabilities required to address potential project management concerns. The cause of many project failures can often be traced back to poor project processes and management ability. 

This training course presents standards on organizational project maturity and project management competencies. Through cases studies, reinforcement exercises and discussions, delegates gain insights that enable them to develop assessment criteria to position projects and project managers at specific maturity levels. Concepts explained are underpinned by ANSI standards produced by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. These standards include:

• Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK)
• Project management Competency Development (PMCD) Framework. 
• Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3)®

Objectives

This training course enables delegates to assess both project and project management performance. This will enable them to establish effective improvement roadmaps in order to pursue project excellence. Explanations of the most current generally accepted practices of project management are reinforced through practical application in a workshop style approach. This then enables learners to assess the performance of managers and project teams against these practices.

At the end of this training course , you will learn to:

• Recognize effective project management governance structures
• Determine and communicate how the ANSI standard PMBoK framework positions generally accepted practices
• Review and appreciate the various skills explored by the project manager competency development framework (PMCD).
• Use the PMBoK framework and the PMCD to assess project manager’s competencies from the perspective of both project technical decisions and personal or leadership effectiveness
• Understand how project management best practices are identified in the PMI Organizational Project Management Maturity model (OPM3)
• Use the OPM3 to assess your project management maturity and determine improvement roadmaps

Training Methodology

Participants to this training course will receive a thorough training on the subjects covered by the training course outline with the tutor utilising a variety of proven adult learning teaching and facilitation techniques. Training course methodology includes problem-based learning (PBL) using mini-cases to reinforce theoretical presentations.
