What gets measured, gets managed
This is the second of three press release discussing the key themes from this upcoming programme in Dubai. This press release discusses some of the important things to consider in evaluating training.
Evaluating training is about assessing the difference training has made to business, team or individual performance, in a quantifiable way, in order to be able to measure the return on investment or the payback period.
The majority of training departments don’t evaluate training so it should be no surprise that when the economy or organisational performance changes adversely, budgets get cut. Apart from the maths involved in making the calculations of return on investment, this workshop shows how the thinking of the training department needs to change to begin with the end in mind.
In other words, if I want to be able to say that the investment in training is going to exceed the cost, what do l need to put in place right at the beginning to ensure that l will be able to measure the RoI. By following a straightforward 10 step process, delegates will gain the knowledge and confidence to have a very different conversation with the stakeholders starting with a question like: What outcomes are you seeking in business terms. This question then starts an approach that measures the current position so that, as a result of the training, you can demonstrate the improvement your training intervention has made to the organisation. The key to this approach is measurement and you will be given the tools and confidence to collect, or ask for, data.
This approach will be guaranteed to raise your profile in the organisation too. Based on the adage that what gets measured gets managed, you will be seen as a business partner on the road to performance improvement, by adopting this methodology enabling measureable improvement.
