Introduction

This GLOMACS Integrity Management of Onshore & Offshore pipelines training course identifies the different strategies required to ensure that the integrity and reliability of pipelines is effectively managed throughout the entire life cycle from design through to decommissioning.

The Pipelines Integrity Management System (PIMS) aims to contribute to the successful achievement of the company’s objectives and give assurance to management and shareholders that the pipeline network integrity is well maintained.

Objectives

Pipelines are a major asset in most Oil & Gas operators, and ensuring its functionality and effectiveness is a paramount operation and business requirement.

This training course will help participants understand the major threats to the Pipeline network and accordingly will be introduced to tactics and processes to maintain its mechanical integrity throughout its complete life cycle.

By the end of this Integrity Management of Onshore & Offshore Pipelines training course, participants will be able to:

  • Maximize the economic value of the company by optimally design, maintain, operate and decommission pipelines to high and consistent standards
  • Comprehend the different strategies required to ensure that the integrity and reliability of pipelines are effectively managed
  • Understand the 10 reasons why Pipeline Integrity Management Fail
  • Explain in detail the basic Assets Integrity Management Modules (8 Modules) and how PIMS can assure pipelines long term availability and productivity
  • Explain the different inspection and monitoring techniques employed for pipelines and how good measurements may assist in the Risk assessment and control process
  • Learn major operator’s advancement in pipelines inspection, operation and decommissioning
  • Communicate major operator’s advancement in PIMS realities and benchmark the Pipelines integrity management practices with best in class operators

Training Methodology

Participants on this training course will receive a thorough training on the subjects covered by the course outline with the Tutor utilising a variety of proven adult learning teaching and facilitation techniques. Furthermore:

  • Participants will learn by active interaction through the use of exercises, syndicate and group discussion on the program topics and real-life issues
  • Throughout the course, participants will be encouraged to discuss their organization specific problems, seek group views and guided to develop their own corrective action agenda for implementation upon returning to their workstations

Organisational Impact

This training course will effectively impact the organization by increasing the service life of its pipeline network, reduce the maintenance and operations cost and minimize the Safety, Environmental and business risks. The course will further consolidate the following:

  • How PIMS process can maximize the economic value of the company by optimally design, maintain, operate and decommission its pipelines network to high and consistent standards.
  • Enable solid outstanding of the requirements for development, implementation and roll out of the PIMS framework

Personal Impact

Upon successful completion of the training course participants will be able to attend and effectively manage any challenges or obstacles encountered during the development of the PIMS framework within their organizations.

The training course is very comprehensive and will address pipelines Operation, Maintenance, troubleshooting, Monitoring, Inspection and Repair so that participants of any engineering craft will have a holistic understanding of the pipeline system and its service life requirements.
