Introduction

This training course will be extremely useful for everybody who wish to pass the API 570 Exam. The API initiated the Piping Inspector Certification Programme to provide a continued high level of safety with Inspectors specialized in process piping. The API 570: Piping Inspection Code training course promotes self-regulation, establishing a uniform standard to assist national, regional, and local governments in setting Process Piping regulations. Passing this exam is a challenging process. Henceforth, the delegates will have to learn, understand and memorize a significant amount of information related to piping in-service inspection, welding procedure qualification, welder performance qualification, related refinery damage mechanisms (i.e., CUI, Galvanic corrosion, atmospheric corrosion...), pressure relief devices (PRV, PSV and rupture disks types and inspection), welding and metallurgy, material verification programs, process piping (new construction), Flanges dimensioning, standard non-destructive examinations (i.e., RT, UTT, MT…) and maintenance techniques according to the post construction standard ASME PCC-2.

Moreover, to pass the API open book exam, the delegates must know how to find the exact formula, equation, and tables using the proper codes, standards, & recommended practices and to implement or utilise these data to answer the exam's calculations and problems. Merely the delegates pass the API exams once they understand the codes, standards, & recommended practices and learn how to use them professionally during the limited open-book exam time.

This GLOMACS API 570: Piping Inspection Code training course will highlight:

  • The main paragraphs that are important for the exam.
  • corrosion rate LT&ST Calculations
  • Remaining life and MAWP calculations
  • Common damage mechanisms in API 571
  • Examples for WPS, PQR and WPQ
  • Flanges rating and dimensions

Objectives

This training course will prepare an Inspector to complete the API 570 Authorized Piping Inspector Certification Examination by thoroughly reviewing the API 570 Standard, API 571, API 574, API 577, API 576, API 578 the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections V and IX, and the ASME Code for Pressure Piping ASME B16.5, ASME B31.3 and ASME PCC-2. Mock examination questions meeting the appropriate specific examination criteria will be utilized to simulate actual API test conditions, providing a practical study base.

At the end of this training course, you will learn to:

  • how to use the tables in the process piping codes ASME B31.3
  • Understand the procedure for measuring the corrosion rate LT&ST for the piping systems and circuits
  • Calculate the remaining life and MAWP
  • Acquire knowledge about common damage mechanisms in piping inside the refinery
  • Obtain data about welding processes, qualifications and metallurgy
  • Use the proper NDE technique during in-service inspection
  • Know how to read the relative inspection plans

Training Methodology

This training course will combine presentations with instructor-guided interactive discussions between delegates about their interests. Practical exercises, video material to stimulate these discussions and provide maximum benefit to them that will support the formal presentation sessions.

Organisational Impact

The Organisation will have the following benefits,

  • Inspection, repair and maintenance of piping
  • Increase collaborative problem solving and innovation
  • New behaviors that accelerate high performance
  • Measurable impact on employee performance
  • help maximizing the economic value of the company

Personal Impact

At the end of this training course, the participants will gain the following,

  • Understand the requirements for development, implementation and roll out of the piping inspection
  • Understand the procedure for measuring the corrosion rate for the piping systems.
  • Calculate the remaining life and MAWP
  • Acquire knowledge about common damage mechanisms in piping inside the refinery
  • Review the WPS,PQR and WPQ according to ASME IX
