INTRODUCTION
In the development of a hydrocarbon reservoir, many wells are drilled and required to be completed, to allow the hydrocarbon to be produced. This training course is designed to give new engineers and non-drilling professionals more knowledge of rig components, drilling operations and possible risks during these critical times of oil and gas development phase.
During this training course, you will have a better understanding on, how to deal with drillers and rig operators, attending follow-up and technical meetings related to drilling phase. You will also learn the existing challenges, logistical considerations and risks faced by drilling engineers and rig crew.
This training course on Drilling Essentials for Non-Drilling Professionals will highlight:
- Provision of optimum development plan
- Overview on rig components and wells’ constructions
- Ensure safety
- Maximize the integrity and reliability of well components, completion over the entire life of the completed well and its effect on the operational cost and production plan
- Overview on well control importance and procedures
Objectives
By the end of this Drilling Essentials for Non-Drilling Professionals training course, participants will be able to:
- Know the difference between oil and gas reservoirs and their effect on the drilling operations and development plans
- Describe the purpose and generic operating principles for major rig equipment components
- Be familiar of the relationship between their roles and the drilling operations
- Describe the well construction and how this happens
- Assess well safety requirements and capabilities inherent in well design
- Familiar with recommend functional capability of completion strings and well integrity
- Asset to handle some of expected critical well control situations
Training Methodology
The training methodology will combine presentations with interactive selected video materials that will be presented with instructor explanation and delegates` comments. Delegates will be encouraged to participate actively in relating their particular inquires to the topics of their interest through group discussions.
Organisational Impact
The organization will gain in sending their employees to attend this online training course, the following:
- Reduction in cost and time loss due to some Non-Drilling professionals are unfamiliar with the ongoing drilling and completion operations
- Extending the co-operations and integration between different company professionals
- Ensuring that most of the company employees are familiar with well integrity, critical safety considerations and company safety policy
Personal Impact
- Obtain integrating knowledge of well design
- Hone their knowledge and get the self-confidence in during all major integration meetings and discussions
- Understand major cost components of drilling operations and its impact for better project planning and management
- Have constructive thinking
