INTRODUCTION
This training course will focus to improve the participants’ understanding of the design and operational aspects of high angle drilling. The practices for complicated highly deviated wells will be covered and participants will receive instructions on planning and evaluating these wells based on the objectives and how to perform the proper planning for an ERD well. In addition, this training course will cover which drilling parameters should be focused during both planning and execution for a well with fewer problem.
This GLOMACS training course will highlight:
- ERD and highly deviated candidate wells
- Understanding challenges and limitations
- Calculating important parameters
- Understanding Drilling/Tubular run challenges and solutions
Objectives
By the end of this training course, participants will learn to:
- Improve understanding of high angle drilling
- Gain confidence in an engineering approach to drilling
- Be able to explain why certain practices worked (or didn’t work) on previous wells
- Be able to anticipate when (and why) different techniques may be required on future wells
- Experience fewer problems on future wells
Training Methodology
This training course on Extended Reach Drilling will utilize a variety of proven adult learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension and retention of the information presented. The training course is highly interactive and participative. The training course will be based on interactive exercises and case studies drawn from a wide range of countries and situations. Delegates to this training course will be provided with training materials.
Organisational Impact
The organization will gain the following:
- Project managers will understand ERD limitations and opportunities
- Subsurface team (Geologist, Reservoir, etc) will understand ERD Limitation / opportunities and will know how to make ERD proposals.
- Achieving Optimum well design using proven techniques
- Preparation for a successful ERD operation
- Ensuring delivering a successful well with minimum cost
Personal Impact
- Gaining ERD knowledge both design and operation
- Will have self-confidence designing ERD wells
