Frequently Asked Question

This training course is designed for engineers, planners, schedulers, traders, analysts, and commercial professionals who need to understand how crude oil turns into products, and why refinery configuration, cut points, and constraints matter to value.

No. A technical mindset helps, but this training course is built around physical logic, mass balance, and cause-and-effect, not equations. Concepts are explained visually and step-by-step.

Highly practical. The course focuses on how real refineries actually behave, including yield limits, hydrogen constraints, blending realities, and operational trade-offs. Theory is only used where it explains reality.

You’ll be able to:

  • Understand why some crudes make more money than others
  • Explain yield shifts across refinery configurations
  • Spot false assumptions in crude evaluations
  • Connect process decisions to commercial outcomes

Yes. The training course walks from topping to hydroskimming refineries through to full-conversion sites, showing how each additional unit changes yields, flexibility, hydrogen demand, and economics. Catalyst selection in the different configurations is covered in detail.

Enough to understand what each unit actually does to molecules and value, without drowning in design minutiae. The focus is decision-relevant understanding, not licensor manuals.

Hydrogen is treated as a core refinery constraint, not an afterthought. Refinery Process Yield Optimisation training course explains hydrogen generation, purification, buffering, losses, and why hydrogen often becomes the hidden bottleneck.

Yes. this course demystifies why assays don’t equal reality, how yields are created (and destroyed), and where assay-based expectations routinely fail when they meet real equipment.

Yes. This training course explains why efficiency, severity, hydrogen use, and configuration dominate emissions outcomes long before feedstock changes. It gives a grounded view of what refiners can realistically control.

Refinery Process Yield Optimisation focuses on thinking like the refinery, not memorising unit descriptions. Delegates leave with a mental model that lets them reason through unfamiliar crudes, configurations, and scenarios with confidence.
