Course Description

Introduction

Oil and Gas well outputs may contain a substantial amount of pollutants, chemicals, or minerals that all have the ability to affect production quality, as well as the operation of the facilities. (You need think only of the effect that mercury corrosion attack has on material such as stainless steel at gas wells!) Furthermore, these pollutants also affect product quality, and are therefore a major cause for concern.

This online training course focusses on the measurement (and the quality) of oil, gas and water at oil & gas facilities, which is done by means of making use of specialized Quality Measuring Instruments (QMI).

This GLOMACS online training course will highlight:

  • The implications of quality on measuring instruments
  • Measuring principles, applications, and installation requirements
  • Sample handling, operation, and maintenance
  • Characteristics and handling of instruments related to Gas Chromatograph, Reid Vapor Pressure, Hydrocarbon Dewpoint. Moisture (Water Dewpoint), Watercut, Mercury, H2S, CO2, pH, Conductivity, Salinity, Turbidity, Oxygen, Dissolved Oxygen, Oil in Water and Redox

Objectives

At the end of this online training course, you will learn to:

  • Gain familiarity with all the measuring principles
  • Understand the most important application requirements
  • Deal with the installation requirements, whether unique or generalized
  • Effectively implement sample handling
  • Correctly implement the operational and maintenance requirements of these instruments, with respect to Oil & Gas well outputs and surrounding water

Training Methodology

This online training course will utilize a variety of proven online learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension, retention of the information presented. The training course is conducted Online via an Advanced Virtual Learning Platform in the comfort of any location of your choice.

Organisational Impact

The organizational impact would be seen over a wide spectrum of important areas, and as this subject matter is intertwined with quality measuring devices that will play a leading role in product quality.

Amongst other things, the organizational impact would include:

  • Having people with comprehensive knowledge on Quality Measuring Instruments, Gas Chromatographs, etc.
  • Having critical staff fully understand and implement concepts such as reliability, availability, installation and best practice
  • The ability to fully understand the measuring principles at stake
  • Having staff that can adequately select the best devices
  • Having staff that can make valuable input pertaining to what is best for the plant, From a quality of product point of view

Personal Impact

Participants will gain knowledge and learn to apply themselves, fully, in matters pertaining to quality measuring instruments and practices. Such skills and knowledge should result in better career prospects within the organization and will play a meaningful role in their abilities to be leaders in their field of expertise.

Personal impact would include:

  • Building up their levels of confidence in quality measuring instruments
  • Communicating effectively with their peers, about the subject matter
  • Understanding and enhancing their subject knowledge about the measurement of salinity, H2S, CO2, pH, etc.
  • Having the ability to make a positive contribution in group discussions and plant improvements
  • Priming themselves to eventually become an expert in quality measuring instruments
  • Having the ability to show their organization that they are, indeed, a valuable team member, and that they can be further developed for senior roles, where necessary

Who Should Attend?

  • Professionals involved in designing, selecting, specifying, installing, testing, operating, and maintaining of quality measuring instruments
