DAY 1
An Overall Introduction to BIM
Day 1 material provides a complete overview of BIM concepts, terminology, and practice and an introduction to important uses and concepts to help you understand how BIM is changing the construction process. This is divided into four sessions:
- Session 1 focuses on explaining common terms and answering the question, “What is BIM?”
- Session 2 examines a company’s process of incorporating BIM into its business practices.
- Session 3 introduces some of the more advanced uses of BIM, following the typical progression a company goes through in its BIM implementation plan.
- Session 4 is where all the BIM concepts come together, and you start thinking about the next steps.
DAY 2
BIM International Standards
International BIM standards are procedures and guidelines recognized by several official bodies at an international level, to better manage all the operations envisaged throughout the entire life cycle of the work. Day 2 material provides a comprehensive guide to applying BIM principles, processes, and methodologies consistent with the international standards of ISO 19650. This day 2 is divided into four sessions:
- Session 1: International BIM standard ISO 19650
- Session 2: UK BIM standard PAS 1192
- Session 3: Acronyms and definitions
- Session 4: Maturity Levels in BIM
DAY 3
BIM in Practice (I)
From a global perspective, you will see how BIM technology has been implemented in real scenarios and how BIM process has been transitioned in alignment and integration to the suite of ISO19650 standards. Day 3 materials is divided into four sessions:
DAY 4
BIM in Practice (II)
Use of BIM goes beyond the planning and design phase of the project, extending throughout the building life cycle. The supporting processes of building lifecycle management include cost management, construction management, project management, facility operation and application in green building. In Day 4, participants will learn about:
DAY 5
From BIM to Digital Twin Construction
Day 5 material is designed to investigate in principle the new technologies which are emerging in the field of BIM and Digital Construction, examining the potential of technology to disrupt the construction industry. In this module, students will learn about construction technologies such as 3D printing (small scale and building scale); GIS and digital mapping; laser scanning, lidar and drone technology; RFID technology, smart buildings and the Internet of Things. Day 5 materials is divided into four sessions:
- Session 1: Innovative construction technology (ConTech) (e.g., laser-scanning, BLE tagging, photogrammetry, VR/AR/Wearables, IoT, or 3D printing) integration for optimal production control.
- Session 2: Explain the Digital Twin Construction (DTC) framework, information flow and its adoption in the construction industry. DTC proposes integration of BIM, Lean Construction (LC) principles, innovative ConTech systems and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to achieve effective plan-do-check-act cycles of planning and control in construction.
- Sessions 3: DTC case study: iBIM-LAP is an intelligent BIM look-ahead planning framework for real-time raw data processing to support LAP with a focus on Field-to BIM automated multiple data streams. iBIM-LAP is the first Digital-Twin attempt to merge real-time data from multiple monitoring streams to generate project status information.
- Session 4: Summary and training course conclusion.
- On successful completion of this training course, GLOMACS Certificate will be awarded to the delegates
